Golden Freddy
  • Appearance: A yellow Freddy suit, limp, with no endoskeleton inside
  • First seen: Five Nights at Freddy's, 2014
  • Turns up: in the office, sitting on the floor, without warning
  • Triggered by: the poster on camera 2B, or by nothing at all
  • Removed by: pulling the monitor up - not by closing a door
Golden Freddy does not follow a route. He does not appear on the cameras moving from room to room, and no door stops him. He simply turns up in the office, slumped on the floor, and if you keep looking at him the run ends.

How he shows up

  • Check camera 2B often enough and the poster there sometimes changes to his face
  • Lower the monitor after that, and he may be sitting in the office
  • He can also appear with no trigger at all, which is the part that unsettles people
  • The "IT'S ME" flashes and the distorted laugh belong to him
  • On the game-over screen he sometimes replaces the usual endoskeleton image

The one correct response

Pull the monitor straight back up. That is it. Closing the doors does nothing, and the hall lights do nothing. Sitting and staring is the only way he actually gets you - which makes him the only animatronic in the game defeated by looking away.

Where the story goes

Golden Freddy is where the series stops being about a night job. He is the first hint that the suits are not empty, and everything the community argues about - the missing children, the bite, who is inside which suit - runs back through him.

Golden Freddy - quick answers

How do I get rid of Golden Freddy?

Raise the monitor. Doors and lights do nothing at all - the only thing that removes him is not looking.

Is Golden Freddy the same as Fredbear?

They share a design and fans argue about it constantly. The games never state it outright, which is why the argument has lasted a decade.

Can Golden Freddy appear randomly?

Yes. The camera 2B poster makes it likelier, but he does not need it.
